Welcome to School Sucks!
I never planned to write about school. Honestly, I tried to bury it. But classrooms, chalkboards, teachers, and disasters have a way of following you into adulthood. The only way to come to terms with it all is to write it out.
That is what this blog is.
School Sucks! is a poetic memoir, a mix of poems, anecdotes, and satirical reflections on stumbling through childhood, surviving the teenage years, wrestling with university, and somehow ending up a teacher.
I am not against school, and I believe in the power of education. But I am skeptical of the way school shapes us, how it crowns some and crushes others. This project lives in the messy middle: the detentions, the awkward crushes, the failures, the absurd victories that shaped who I became.
Each post will bring you a poem. Some funny, some bitter, some tender, some ridiculous. Together they tell a story: how a mediocre student became a teacher, how failure turned into survival, and how humor carried me through the chaos.
Think of this space as a free archive. Read a poem, laugh, cringe, nod along. Share it with someone who hated school, or someone who loved it too much.
In time, these words will grow into books, maybe even a box set you can hold in your hands. But for now, it begins here, with you, and with poems that refuse to stay quiet.
Welcome to detention.
Welcome to survival.
